Lyceum, the Postgraduate Students’ Association of the Department of International Studies, Political Science and History successfully conducted TALK de BAIT, a turncoat debate competition for the students of MAIS on 23rd January 2021. In a turncoat debate, the participants are required to speak both in favour of the topic as well as against it. Ten students took part in the first round of the debate. The topic for the first round was ‘Privatisation of Vaccine: Boon or Bane.' The top four participants from the first round moved on to next round, and the topic of the debate was ‘Can the pandemic revive international cooperation?’ In the second round, the participants had five minutes to prepare their arguments. The top two participants: Tanishka from 4 MAIS and Aman from 2 MAIS moved on to the final round. Rielza of 2 MAIS, who finished third, missed out on the final round by a thin margin of 0.5 points. ‘Covid-19 has accelerated the migration crisis and global uncertainty’ was the topic for the final round. This round saw Tanishka emerge as the winner of the debate. The judges of this competition were Anirudh Bharadwaj and Paroma Raha, both from 6 EPS. Sanjana Krishnan and Anushua Banerjee from 4 MAIS were the moderators for this debate. Udbhav Krishna of 2 MAIS delivered the vote of thanks. The students found the turncoat debate competition unique and exciting as the participants had to change their stance on the topic. The list of winners:

3rd place – Rielza Tilling Bamin, 2 MAIS
